The Return of Mr. Hamoud

When the school year began, students were happy to learn of the return of QPA science teacher Mr. Hamoud. Moreover, students were relieved to have him back since they had been taught by substitutes for most of last year.

As it turns out, Mr. Hamoud was away from the classroom because of his health. He said that while he was out he was very worried about his students, but is glad to be back now that he’s in better shape. He admits he was unsure of how they would manage without him, especially since students had to take the Living Environment regents exam last June.

According to QPA junior Motilola Arogundade, learning wasn’t easy. Moreover, he’s hopeful about Mr. Hamoud’s return this year, and “so far, he’s been going easy for us to learn and understand topics,” which allows students to catch up on what they may have missed. He says his experience in class has been positive and he’s learning a lot. He said, Mr. Hamoud’s teaching “is just very different and unique,” hinting at Mr. Hamoud’s teaching style that’s the result of many years of experience in the field.

Mr. Hamoud has been responsible for teaching many of the sciences at QPA. He has taught subjects like Living Environment, Chemistry, and even Health. With 26 years of teaching behind him, he’s always able and willing to help his students, whether it be with classwork or finishing their labs. He says teaching has been his passion, and he loves his students dearly. He believes that “educating students is the best way to ensure they survive,” and allow them to be independent.

As the school year continues, Mr. Hamoud and his students are excited to further their work in the classroom. Accordingly, multiple students have spoken up about their positive experiences in his classes. Jabari Peters-Hyman, a junior who takes Health with Mr. Hamoud said his classes are very informative, and he’s able to learn because he makes the content easier to understand. Furthermore, he said [Mr. Hamoud] is “really nice with students,” remains on topic, “sticks to the facts and tries to ensure we stay focused.” On top of that, Jabari said he’s confident about passing his class because of Mr. Hamoud’s teaching.

Undoubtedly, his students are happy to have Mr. Hamoud back, and are prepared to work hard as he pushes them to do their best in class and on upcoming exams.
