Good day QPA readers! Welcome back to Queens Preparatory Academy’s official journalism site. As the school year comes to a close, excitement is building across campus. Students are embracing the final weeks with a mix of anticipation and emotion; looking forward to summer break while preparing to say goodbye to classmates and teachers, whether for a few months or for good. Sunny skies and heartfelt farewells await QPA as we wrap up the 2024–2025 school year.
With the arrival of May comes the beginning of the final marking period. This is a crucial time for students to finish strong and aim to raise their final grades to an 85 or higher. Students are encouraged to stay engaged, keep up with classwork, and prepare for Regents exams and other final assessments.
In addition to academics, May 1st marked an exciting milestone for our seniors; College Decision Day! This national celebration gives students the chance to share where they’ll be continuing their academic journeys. At QPA, we hosted a special assembly where seniors and teachers spoke about the choices and experiences that shaped their college decisions. May 1st was also National Principal’s Day, a time to honor the dedication and leadership of school principals. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Principal Gumbs for fostering a supportive, progressive environment at QPA. We also warmly welcome Assistant Principal Greene, who was recently introduced to the QPA community.
Looking ahead, students are eagerly anticipating end-of-year events such as Field Day and Multicultural Night. Field Day offers all students five free periods filled with outdoor fun, music, sports, and friendly competitions. Multicultural Night is another beloved tradition, where students can celebrate diversity through food, performances, and cultural showcases.
