QPAlit is produced by students of the Journalism and Social Justice course at Queens Preparatory Academy (Q 248), located in Springfield Gardens in Southeast Queens, New York.

Students in this course learn the fundamentals of the profession, and its relevance in a democratic society.

They develop skills that enable them to write for specific audiences; they think critically by analyzing the historical and sociological contexts of controversial issues in today’s news. 

Students also acquire knowledge that supports their navigation of information in print, broadcast, and online publications to become more discerning consumers of today’s media.  

They evaluate the credibility of sources; they explore the past to better understand the present, while looking hopefully to the future.
