About

QPAlit is produced by students of the Journalism and Social Justice course at Queens Preparatory Academy (Q 248), located in Springfield Gardens in Southeast Queens, New York.
Students in this course learn the fundamentals of journalism, and its relevance in a democratic society.
They develop skills that enable them to write for different audiences; they think critically by analyzing the historical and sociological contexts of controversial issues in today’s news.
Students also acquire knowledge that supports their understanding of information in print, broadcast, and online publications to become more educated consumers of today’s media.
They evaluate the credibility of sources; they explore the past to understand the present, while looking hopefully to the future.
